This past November, our team traveled to Rwanda for a transformative week working alongside UNICEF, regional education leaders, and local communities. Our mission: to understand how we can strengthen early childhood programs and ignite teen entrepreneurship through AI-powered learning.

Early Childhood: Where It All Begins
We believe that the foundation for lifelong learning is built in the earliest years. During our visit, we had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the early childhood development programs UNICEF has implemented across Rwanda—the challenges they face, the opportunities that exist, and the gaps that remain.
We saw the technological needs required to bridge the education gap in a place like Rwanda. From connectivity challenges in rural areas to the need for content in local languages, we gained a deeper understanding of what it will take to bring AI-powered learning tools to these communities in a meaningful way.

Understanding the Landscape
Rwanda has one of the youngest populations in the world, and the government's Vision 2050 emphasizes technology and entrepreneurship as key drivers of economic transformation. Our conversations with UNICEF, local educators, and community leaders helped us understand how Little Engine can contribute to this vision.
We learned about the existing infrastructure, the cultural context, and the specific needs of different age groups—from early childhood through teenage years. These insights will shape how we design and adapt our programs for Rwandan communities.
What's Next
This visit was about building relationships and understanding context. Armed with these insights, we're now working on:
- Developing curriculum adapted for the Rwandan context and local languages
- Exploring solutions for offline-capable learning tools
- Building partnerships with local organizations to ensure sustainable implementation
- Planning pilot programs that address the specific gaps we identified
Rwanda has shown the world what's possible when a nation commits to transformation. We're honored to be exploring how Little Engine can play a role in helping the next generation access the tools of the future.
Bring Little Engine to Your Community
We're actively seeking partners—NGOs, schools, and organizations—who want to bring AI education to children and teens in their communities.
